Building Materials

Back in the day, all trim was wood. Now more often than not it will be MDF (medium-density fiberboard), or in other words, thick cardboard. While this type of material is easier to work with than hard woods, it is also so fragile that it creates its own set of challenges. If you're working with this type of material, you have to be more careful. If you look at it wrong you can damage the beautiful outside corner you just cut on it. Treat this stuff very carefully or you will regret it. I can't tell you how many times I have had the piece ready to go and the dude helping would bang it up and destroy it. Uhh, ok, I've done that a few times myself. It's very unforgiving and super fragile. Use kid gloves on this stuff.

More to come...
